Introductions to products
Lenses are mainly used in outside parts of telecommunications products and household appliances. Lens development focuses on functions, as well as appearance and structure. Therefore, demand on colors and shape is very strict.
Lenses fall into two categories, namely, level lenses and IML lenses.
Level lenses are made of PMMA and PC.PMMA and PC would not create harm for people as breaking.
For IML lenses, PET is combined with PMMA, PC and ABS by molding, namely, molding into film shape.
1.Hardness
Lenses are outside parts and contact products. Their surface is processed in H/C with hardness testing machines and Japanese Mitsubishi pencil testing. For PMMA, the surface should be from 4H to 5H and for PC and PET 1H to 2H.
2.Luminousness
Lenses are sticked on the front of LCD. This calls a high
Demand on lens luminousness. Lenses are often made of optical materials. Generally, PMMA should be as pure as over 92%-93%, PC as pure as over 90%, and IML as pure s92%-93%.if the material contains waves and impurities, the appearance of LCD will be affected. Thus this is a high demand on mater al quality.
3.Printing and electroplating
Lens brightness lies in combined colors in printing and electroplating. Colors can be in thousands according to Pantone card. Electroplating can be divided into Nickel electroplating, Aluminum electroplating, and color electroplating (mainly used for bright lens).
(1)Nickel electroplating makes out bright brown color. This is usually used.
Nickel electroplating is sensitive to acid and alkali. But present technique is useful for the sensitivity. Oxidation can be prevented by printing, separating and sealing.
(2)Aluminum electroplating produces bright silver color. Level lens is rarely used. Aluminum electroplating is very sensitive to acid and alkali and easy to oxide. IML products are usually processed by Aluminum electroplating, for inside molding can avoid oxidation.
(3)Color electroplating produces a great variety of colors. Its processing is very complicated. This requires a high demand on processing. Its cost is higher than the other two electroplating methods.
4. Shape-making
The shape is made by CNC engraving with alloy and diamond knives. No burrs and edge damage occur on processed surface. The side processed by diamond knives would be bright comparatively (generally used on DVD bevel edges).
Shape processing is to make straight edges, bevel edges and R shape edges, stair shapes and double layer bevel edges.
For the above only by tight working procedure and exact requirement bright lenses can be made.
